Unlock Your Psychic Powers: Thoughts On Exploring Your Inner Gifts
For the last 5-10 years, I have intentionally shifted more and more into studying consciousness and what it means to walk through this human experience as a spirit in a physical vessel (an avatar). For some reason, as a kid, I was obsessed with understanding what would happen when we 'die'. Where do we go?! What happens? My uncle gave me a book called 'On A Slide Of Light' that documented the near-death experiences of ~100 people which I read at 14 years old. That book, along with my mom's commitment to studying dreams, and my dad's encouragement to tune in to the emotional self and prioritize kindness gave me 'permission' in a way to ebb and flow on this path of discovery.
High school and typical teenage conditioning placed my curiosity in the depths of my mind but it was reactivated in college when I started to take plant medicine and meet people who sparked that yearning for understanding once more.
Now, all of these years later, it has become my life's work to help us remember who we are on an energetic and cosmic level. To feel better about being alive - knowing that every moment is purposed. And, essentially, to help us get over the deep-seated fear of dying... knowing that it's just another page turn - a transition of energy. Meditation has been the greatest catalyst for this understanding as well as constantly embodying the student - learning from some of the brightest minds in this field of exploration.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE -
I want to encourage you that you are not alone on your spiritual 'quest' if you will. I had a beautiful moment with a new friend recently who is coming into her gifts as a medium which deeply unsettles her. She expressed to me feeling like she might be going crazy and that she would be alienated. I want you to know that if you are having new and unusual activations, or questioning everything you thought you knew... you are not alone.
REMEMBERING WHO WE ARE -
I truly believe activating our psychic gifts is actually a remembering of ancient wisdom. We all have the ability to connect to a world beyond the physical body and senses... we just need to be given the space to feel safe exploring that and to recognize that our gifts are beautifully human. Examples of our gifts really being a remembering of ancient wisdom can be found particularly amoung indigenous peoples - those who have maintained their connection to mother earth, our ancestors, and the larger spiritual realm since the dawn of humanity.
INDIGENOUS WISDOM -
John Perkins has written a few books (more like long essays) about native wisdom. I just finished ‘Psychonavigation - Techniques For Travel Beyond Time’ which describes the ability to essentially astral project and enter a kind of dream-world to determine movement forward in this physical reality and deepen one’s understanding of self. It’s a shamanic practice that I believed can be learned by any of us with practice.
“The Shuar of the Amazon, the Quechua of the Andes, and the Bugis of Indonesia have all used psychonavigation for the purposes of hunting and healing, while the Bugis, among the most renowned sailors of the world, use these techniques to navigate without the aid of charts and compasses. Perkins explains how these techniques work and how the people of these indigenous cultures psychonavigate to both distant physical destinations and sources of inner wisdom. Perkins suggests that throughout history, psychonavigation has been practiced by highly creative minds such as Beethoven, Jung, and Einstein.” - Barnes & Noble Reviews
All of this is to say that while it may feel like the world is experiencing a great awakening, perhaps it is more of a remembering and an invitation to activate that which already lives within us. We have gifts available to us that can actively be learned if we can just have to courage to be open to the experience. HERE is another blog post on astral projection that you might like as well.
